The UK’s air travel quarantine measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus will be reviewed today. The policy came into force on 8 Jun when international arrivals – with some exceptions – had to self-isolate for 14 days. Travel-industry leaders described the measures as a ‘three-week wonder’ that will be quietly dropped at the first opportunity.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the Government believes travel from some countries should be allowed to avoid the 14-day self-isolation rules but no announcement will be made until June 29. But his confirmation to the Commons Transport Select Committee came days after Health Secretary Matt Hancock used the daily Downing Street press briefing to insist that the countries would be revealed ‘in good time’ ahead of June 29′
