Yellowstone Timeline: The Story So Far

IGN published this video item, entitled “Yellowstone Timeline: The Story So Far” – below is their description.

Created by Taylor Sheridan (known for Sicario and Hell or High Water), Yellowstone has become the biggest drama series on cable TV, following a family out West whose focus is protecting their ranch in Montana from various rivals trying to take their land. Now, with Yellowstone Season 5 about to hit, it’s time to take a look back at everything that’s gone down for John Dutton and his family. This is our recap of the Yellowstone timeline — the story so far!

Yellowstone Season 1 opens by giving us a glimpse into the Dutton family and their roles – everyone plays their part to help the family. John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, is a name known in Montana – he’s the big boss and land owner who runs basically everything; his eldest son Lee (Dave Annable) is a livestock agent and plans to take over the ranch one day; his son Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is an attorney who struggles at times to think like his dad; his only-daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) is a savvy yet-chaotic business-woman who doesn’t take crap from anyone; and John’s other son, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), is a former Navy seal turned horseman and ranch hand who married Monica Long. Together they have a son and live on the nearby Broken Rock Indian Reservation.

The pilot episode doesn’t waste any time getting into the brutal difficulties of what the Dutton family deals with on Yellowstone. We find out that cattle from the Dutton’s property wandered onto the reservation – winding up mysteriously past a fence that was somehow taken down. This ends up sparking a war with the Native Americans, led by the new Chief Thomas Rainwater (played by Gil Birmingham), leading to deadly consequences.

Watch the video for the full Yellowstone story so far, as we delve into what happened in Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, and Season 4, all as a primer for the brand new Season 5 of Yellowstone!
