Inside Gaming published this video item, entitled “The Clever Ways Games Break Themselves” – below is their description.
Did you know that the developers of some of your favorite games like Cyberpunk, Super Mario Bros, Doom, and Bioshock often sneak in little secrets and tricks of programming to make you feel a certain way when playing?
Developers use all types of cleverly hidden game mechanics to build up tension, make you feel awesome, or just get you to play one more match. Lead developers from game franchises like Assassins Creed, Bioshock, and Uncharted all came forward with some pretty interesting ways that they use game design to create unique player experiences.
In today’s video were picking a few of the highlights to share with you. Let us know what you think. Should developers “stack the deck” in favor of a player’s entertainment and experience? …or do these types of hidden mechanics make you second guess everything you have ever known?
