IGN published this video item, entitled “Dune: Part Two Officially Announced – IGN NOW” – below is their description.
Legendary Pictures has officially greenlit Dune: Part Two with Denis Villeneuve set to return as director. Scheduled for an October 20th, 2023 release date, fans of the franchise can expect to watch the film exclusively in theaters. Legendary and WB broke the news over social media in a tweet thanking the many fans who have experienced the movie so far, exclaiming their excitement to continue the journey seen in Part one. The interesting thing about Villeneuve’s Dune is it was always set up to be a multi-part film, but there were concerns that a high-concept, ambitious science fiction movie like Dune might not hit right with audiences to justify continuing with sequels. In an interview with an Italian magazine earlier this year, Villeneuve stated that #Dune Part 2 will see Zendaya’s character take over as the leading protagonist. #DuneMovie
