Shanice’s alter-ego, Heather Hannah, has been busy pitching all over town, and she finally landed Shanice a gig. With only one day until the performance, B.Slade helps her dust off the cobwebs with some new choreography to accompany her new music. This is the moment that Shanice has been working towards — she’s finally going to debut her new sound to the public. When the club pushes her performance from 10pm to 12:30am it deflates her excitement a little, but then the venue agrees to put she and Flex up at a fancy hotel that night, and the blow is softened a bit. When she and B.Slade arrive at the club and discover that the stage is about the size as her coffee table, is Shanice able to rally once more? And when they hit the stage doe she manage to stay on beat and off the audience? Flex is hard at work on his standup. He’s been finding his groove by hosting every week at The Comedy Union, but the crowds can be unpredictable and after one particularly rough night, Flex’s confidence is on shaky ground. He quickly realizes that he can’t rely solely on standup for his comeback. So when Flex gets a callback for a television show, he’s probably as relieved as he is excited. The director wants to meet with him — and he wants to meet with him the same night as Shanice’s big performance. This meeting could be just the break Flex needs, but there’s no way he can miss Shanice’s show. And you know Flex is stressed when he goes to Crystal for advice! Will he find a way to be in two places at the same time? With Flex and Shanice making such a great team, it’s no wonder Uncle Spirit ponders looking for a lady to share his life. His ex-girlfriend has made it very clear that he “needs to put a ring on it,” but Uncle Spirit claims that he needs someone who’s on his spiritual level. Ruba is convinced that he needs to try online dating, but could Uncle Spirit possibly find someone who is looking for romance and likes to hug trees? When Crystal announces that she and Mike are going to Shanice’s show, she also declares that Ruba needs to stay home and babysit Imani and Elijah. But Ruba is sick of spending his nights entertaining children and not getting paid any money, so he takes away their iPads — declaring that they need to be creative and make their own fun. Ruba did not realize it, but he was about to get schooled in the art of war.
