The Ghaffar family managed to escape Kabul with the help of former British Army Officer Ash Alexander-Cooper. General Ghaffar and his son and son in law both worked in police intelligence and had locked up many Taliban fighters. They knew they would never be safe unless they got out. Eleven members of the family including 5 children are now staying at a hotel in London and say they are so grateful to the UK for a chance to start again.
