Fire Department to Benefit at Premier of Disney Firefighting Film: “Planes: Fire and Rescue”

Los Angeles Fire Department will receive a grant of $25,000 as part of the world premiere of a new Disney film about firefighting.

The grant will be provided by the Firemen’s Fund, which has provided entertainment insurance to Hollywood movies for over 100 years. The presentation will take place at the world premiere of “Planes: Fire and Rescue” on 15th July 2014 in Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre.

“Planes: Fire & Rescue” is an animated children’s film from Disney about a group of firefighting planes, The Smokejumpers, working in the Piston Peak National Park to protect the forest from wildfire. The film will hit cinema screens in the United States on 18th July 2014, opening in the UK & Ireland on 8th August 2014.

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company was founded in 1863 with a social mission to support the fire service. Its Heritage Program awards grants to fire service organizations for life-saving equipment, firefighter training and community education programs. Since 2004, Fireman’s Fund has awarded grants to more than 2,100 different organizations totaling more than $31 million — including more than $9 million in California.
