In the final installment of the hit series Downton Abbey, not one, but two telephones are installed at the house, much to the consternation of Carson. Mrs Patmore, the fiery chef played by Lesley Nicol, goes to London to have her eyes operated upon. Anna takes the chance to uncover the full truth of Bates’ past.
An upcoming garden party lifts the spirits of all at Downton Abbey and raises the prospects of happy news. However, the preparations are overshadowed by a death in the Grantham family and the spectre of war.
