New anti-stalking laws were brought in last Tuesday which included the introduction of Stalking Protection Orders. They stop the perpetrator from approaching the victim and if an order is breached the stalker can face up to 5 years in prison. Stalking became a criminal offence in 2012, but some campaigners believe that the new laws don’t go far enough and are calling for a ‘Stalkers Register’ where previous offences can be recorded.
