DCI Banks – “Cold is the Grave” Season 2 Episodes 5 & 6

“Cold is the Grave” is a two part story concerning a robbery, a murder and the missing daughter of a police chief. Going outside of regulations, Alan helps his boss to find the errant Emily, who has slipped away from boarding school. Something is wrong, but there is nothing the parents can legally do apart from ask a friend to find out more.

DCI Banks tracks her down in London, all the while ignoring calls from Annie, who has had to take the lead on a murder investigation in his absence. Emily has a number of surprises up her sleeve when Alan finally picks up the trail and a messy family history ultimately involves the whole force in a web of deceit, betrayal and violence.

A grand Shakespearian-inspired tragedy with high drama involving opportunistic thieves, drug dealers, bodyguards, luxury hotels, family secrets, topless modelling, inappropriate liaisons and blackmail.

The DCI Banks series is based on the novels by Peter Robinson. Set in Northern England, the sagas take a look at the gritty end of police work where ambition, human weakness and politics stand between DCI Banks and the justice that the perpetrators deserve.
