“The Great Resignation” is a term which sprang up in the USA during the covid-19 pandemic, as millions of Americans decided to quit their jobs. The phrase was first mentioned in news items here, in August 2021, and really exploded to popular attention after November 2021, a month which saw 4.5 million Americans quit their jobs. By January 2022, around 20 million Americans left their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
