US Indices record best week in two years

After a very volatile few weeks around the world for stock and share indices, the major US indices, DOW, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 finished the week on a postive note, achieving their best week in two years.

The chronic middle east crisis and European debt issues have spooked global markets over the last few months. Positive news out of Greece, positive manufacturing data out of the US, and a reduction in the volatility index all helped the major indices make gains this week.

The DOW finished Friday up 168.43 points, or 1.36 percent, to close at 12,582.77. The S&P 500 finished the week up 19.03 points, or 1.44 percent, to end at 1,339.67. The tech heavy NASDAQ  index gained 42.51 points, or 1.53 percent, to finish at 2,816.03.

With job reports out soon, and consumer sentiment worsening in June, many believe the momentum may stall ahead of the earnings season. For now though, it seems risk of a double dip recession has been reduced.
