Spirits: Beam Global Acquires Skinnygirl

The premium spirits business of Fortune Brands, Beam Global Spirits & Wine, has acquired the ready to drink cocktails brand Skinnygirl.

Skinnygirl Cocktails were launched in 2009 by reality TV foodie Bethenny Frankel to provide low calorie, pre-mixed cocktails that use natural ingredients. The company ships 900,000 litres of Skinnygirl products every year. The signature Skinnygirl Margarita is 100-calories for a 4 ounce serving using clear tequila, agave nectar and lime juice.

Bill Newlands, President of Beam Global North America, commented:

“Skinnygirl is an innovative premium brand that’s growing fast in a rapidly expanding segment. In just the past year, Skinnygirl has built strong consumer equity and momentum, particularly among women seeking convenient, low-calorie premium cocktails. We believe our strong sales and distribution organization will build on this success by bringing Skinnygirl to more consumers and growing this high-quality brand from coast to coast. We’re also excited that Skinnygirl offers an excellent platform for further innovation.”

Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. is one of the world’s largest premium spirits companies, owning brands such as Jim Beam, Courvoisier, Teacher’s, Maker’s Mark, Laphroaig and Knob Creek.

Demeter Group, the San Francisco-based investment bank for growth consumer and retail companies, acted as the financial advisor to Skinny Girl Cocktails.
