Leading worldwide construction group, Skanska, have been awarded a new contract to renovate the United Nations headquarters in New York. Skanska USA signed the deal, worth around $65 million.
Skanska USA will restore, replace and reconfigure the existing office space, mechanical systems and electronics equipment. New conferencing facilities will also be installed. The work is expected to be completed in August 2014.
The deal was first announced in 2007 and Skanska USA’s work began in June 2013. The upgrades are part of the UN’s Capital Master Plan for the organisation’s headquarters in New York City.
Skanska USA has approximately 8,300 employees and its 2012 revenues were SEK 37.3 billion. The Skanska group currently has 57,000 employees and sales in 2012 totalled SEK 132 billion.
