Sweden’s Minister for Trade, Ewa Björling, has welcomed the opening of a new route between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Dubai.
A VIP delegation boarded the inaugural Boeing 777-200LR aircraft flight from Dubai to Stockholm and was welcomed by Dr Björling, Mrs Torborg Chetkovich, President and CEO of Swedavia, and H.E. Sheikha Najla Al Qassimi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Sweden.
Dr Björling commented:
““I am very pleased to have the honour to inaugurate the first direct flight from Stockholm to Dubai. This flight will have a great impact on our bilateral trade and cultural exchange.
“With good direct communications, we can further develop the exchange with the United Arab Emirates in the areas of trade, tourism, education and investments.”
The United Arab Emirates is Sweden’s third largest export market in the Middle East, with annual exports totalling approximately SEK 5.3 billion.
The VIP delegation on the first Emirates flight from Dubai to Stockholm included; Christer Skogum, President of ABB Metals, Anders Lindblad, Middle East Regional Head for Ericsson, Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, West, Maya Ternström, Executive Director of the Swedish Business Council, Pradeep Kumar, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Cargo Revenue Optimisation and Systems and Professor Najib Al Khaja, CEO of MAF Healthcare – Majid Al Futtaim Group.
