BAE Systems Awarded $449.9 Million Ground Combat Vehicle Contract

BAE Systems has been awarded a $449.9 million contract to conduct a preliminary design review for the U.S. Army’s Ground Combat Vehicle program. The work involves 24 months of design ahead of prototype builds.

The BAE Systems-Northrop Grumman vehicle includes a hybrid electric drive propulsion system and lower vehicle body weight. The team involved in the technology development phase includes QinetiQ, iRobot Corporation, MTU (owned by Tognum AG) and Saft with BAE Systems providing overall management.

The contracts will be fulfilled at sites in Sterling Heights and Troy, Michigan; Santa Clara and Carson, California; York, Pennsylvania; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Huntsville, Alabama.
