Australia and Indonesia have signed a memorandum of sale for five C-130H Hercules from Australia to Indonesia at a discounted rate. The sale brings the number of Hercules sold to Indonesia to nine. The sale of the aircraft includes parts and a simulator.
The Australian Minister for Defence, Stephen Smith MP, said the aircraft would enhance Indonesia’s “capacity to respond to natural disasters and humanitarian crisis”.
The Memorandum of Sale was signed by Australia’s Chief of the Defence Force, General Hurley, and Indonesia’s Head of Defence Facilities Agency, Rear Admiral Lubis. The signing was witnessed by the Australian Minister for Defence, Stephen Smith MP, and Indonesian Defence Minister, Dr Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
The leaders are in Perth for bilateral discussions and the second Annual Australia-Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Meeting.
