Six Barclays Premier League 2013/14 matches are scheduled to take place on Saturday 21st September 2013, as match week five gets into full swing.
The biggest match of the day on paper looks to be the West London derby between Chelsea and Fulham, which is the late kick-off match, starting at 17:30. Andre Marriner will officiate as Jose Mourinho’s men try to get back to winning ways after a Premier League loss to Everton last week was compounded by turning a 1-0 home lead into a 2-1 Champions League defeat on Tuesday night against Basel. Fulham, for their part, have yet to strike form too, so it will be interesting to see which team can use this match as a springboard to kick-start their season.
Leaders Liverpool will be hoping for more than the point they took from Swansea on Monday night when they entertain Southampton at Anfield. Neil Swabrick will referee.
Norwich host Aston Villa at Carrow Road knowing that the loser of this match may well end the weekend in the bottom three, while Hull travel to Newcastle needing at least a point to avoid a similar fate.
At the same time, another potential relegation six-pointer will be taking place at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, where the Black Cats host West Brom, in a match which is 20th v 19th: both sides are looking for their first victory of the season. Phil Dowd will officiate.
