Ashes 2013: Onions Called In to England Squad for Fourth Test

England has called Durham pace bowler Graham Onions into their 13 man squad ahead of Friday’s Ashes 2013 Fourth Test match against Australia at his home ground in Chester-le-Street.

Chris Tremlett, who narrowly missed out on the Old Trafford test remains in the squad, while spinner Monty Panesar and batsman James Taylor have been dropped, England Coach Andy Flower confirmed after England retained the Ashes at Old Trafford.

Chester-le-Street is a pitch which favours seamers, and Onions is in fine form this season, having bagged 44 wickets in just 8 division one matches for Durham, at an average of 20.77.

The Fourth Investec Ashes 2013 Test begins at Durham CC’s Riverside ground in Chester-le-Street on Friday 9th August 2013.

England squad for fourth Test: Alastair Cook (Essex, captain), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Graeme Onions (Durham), Kevin Pietersen (Surrey), Matt Prior (Sussex, wk), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), Chris Tremlett (Surrey), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire).
