Murderland is a three-part drama which comes to ITV tonight starring Robbie Coltrane alongside Sharon Small (Mistresses), Lucy Cohu (Becoming Jane), Amanda Hale and Nicholas Gleaves (Foyle’s War). It follows the fortunes of a young woman, Carrie, whose mother was murdered when she was a child. The story is told from three perspectives over three weeks and is truly gripping.

Carrie is inquisitive and attempts to solve the crime herself, to the concern of the welfare officers overseeing her. Coltrane’s detective, Douglas Hain, encourages Carrie to remember what happened that day. The following episode delves into the background of Carrie’s mother as remembered by the detective and the adult Carrie forces herself to confront the people she suspects of being involved in her mother’s death. The third installment sees the murder through the victim’s eyes. A great drama for any Crime genre enthusiast. You’ll be dying to find out what happens next.
