“The Dales” with Adrian Edmondson, Episode 2 on ITV, 4th April 2011

Adrian Edmondson present the second in a series of programmes looking at life in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the UK. The show follows Alex Wilkes as she presents her small herd of dairy cows at the Great Yorkshire show. As Alex finishes up her presentation with the help of a “top-liner”, there’s a royal surprise to treat the crowds.

Over in Keighley, young farmer Philip Mellin has left school and must learn how to shear sheep. He soon gets the hang of it, but how will he cope with the hundreds of animals back home?

Adrian also meets Tom Orde-Powlett, who is the eldest son of Lord Bolton. He shows viewers round Bolton Castle in Wensleydale and explains that although he is incredibly proud of the building which has remained in his family for 26 generations, there is also a great responsibility to maintain the building. He shows how he intends to pay for its upkeep with a range of visitor attractions such as falconry, a herd of wild boars and, of course, the all important tea room.

“The Dales” with Adrian Edmondson, Episode 2 airs on ITV at 8pm on 4th April 2011.
