Technip to Test Floating Wind Turbine Project: “Vertiwind”

Technip (Paris:TEC), the company which oversaw the offshore installation of the “Hywind” floating wind turbine for Statoil, is planning to test its own industrial prototype floating wind turbine.

The partners of the project are Seal Engineering, ISITV, IFP Energies nouvelles, Arts et Métiers, Bureau Veritas, Oceanide.

As on the “Hywind project”, Technip will oversee the floater and offshore installation, but on “Vertiwind” will also take on the mooring system, dynamic electrical connection cable and turbine integration.

The “Vertiwind” project is among the first beneficiaries of the program “Investing for the Future,” a component of the “Grand Emprunt,” sponsored by the French Prime Minister through the French Environment and Energy Management Agency.
