Children in the UK are in for a treat this December when BBC One airs the latest series of Shaun the Sheep. The loveable spin-off star from Wallace and Gromit manages a small farm alongside sheepdog named Bitzer. Shaun and the flock do their best to have fun and look after one another whilst keeping out of the way of the grumpy farmer and spiteful cat.
Without any dialogue, the series is ideal for young children. The Christmas episode “We Wish Ewe a Merry Christmas” is well worth a watch with all the family, however. Shaun and his flock make Christmas special for the farmer with an especially keen sense of taste in woollen jumpers.
The episodes will be as follows:
6th December at 15:55: “The Magpie” BBC1
A magpie has nested in the big tree and is causing chaos by stealing everything around the farm. The magpie’s nest soon begins to fill up with loot and Shaun has to come up with a brilliant plan to outwit the burgling bird.
7th December at 15:55 “Operation Pidsley” BBC1
While the farmer is away on a night out, the sheep sneak into the farmhouse for a party. But when Pidsley snaps a photograph of the fun and games, Shaun and Bitzer need to catch the malicious cat before he can show the incriminating evidence to the Farmer.
8th December at 15:55: “Pig Swill Fly” BBC1
The farm is looking spotless and everyone is on their best behaviour when the dreaded farm inspector pays a visit. But while the inspector checks out the inside of the farmhouse, war breaks out in the field between the sheep and the pigs. Can Bitzer prevent the inspector from noticing as the chaos escalates outside?
9th December at 15:55 “Shirley Whirley” BBC1
In a bid to help move Shirley around the farm Shaun has the idea of fitting up Shirley with wheels. Using a remote control Shaun can now manoeuvre his large friend around easily – until The Farmer’s TV remote interferes with the signal causing Shirley to run amock.
10th December 2010 at 15:55: “Foxy Lady” BBC1
A fox arrives at the farm, disguising himself as a handsome ram to infiltrate the flock and eat Timmy! All the lady sheep are beguiled by this charming new arrival – especially Shirley. Shaun becomes suspicious when the fox’s cunning disguise begins to fail.
13th December 2010 at 15:55: “Shaun goes Potty” BBC1
The farm takes delivery of a brand new pool table. Before the Farmer can take it indoors, Bitzer and the flock have a game with disastrous cloth-ripping consequences. They must repair the damage before the Farmer finds out!
14th December at 15:55: “An Ill Wind” BBC1
The farmer receives a huge electricity bill and decides to build his own wind turbine to power the farmhouse. As soon as the Farmer’s back is turned, Shaun and the flock adapt the noisy new contraption into something much more fun – a fairground
big-wheel. It’s not long before the Farmer blows his fuse.
15th December at 15:55: “Fireside Favourite” BBC1
Bitzer has caught a cold and the Farmer decides to tuck him up in the house to recover. In doing so Pidsley the cat is ousted from his favourite spot next to the fire. The mean cat attempts various ways to remove the snotty dog while the sheep do their best to keep Bitzer where he needs to be.
16th December at 15:55: “Snowed In” BBC1
Shaun and his chums awake to find the farm covered in snow. But while the sheep are enjoying themselves having a massive snowball fight they are all unaware that the Farmer is snowed inside the farmhouse and trying desperately to escape.
17th December at 15:50: “We Wish Ewe a Merry Christmas” BBC1

Shaun discovers that the Farmer will be spending Christmas Day alone. The animals work through the night festooning the farmhouse with decorations so that the Farmer wakes up to the most magical Christmas he has ever experienced.
