Detective Constable Rachel Bailey and Detective Constable Janet Scott are the stars of the new six part series from ITV, which follows the fortunes of the Manchester Metropolitan Major Incident Team.

In the first episode, Rachel runs into trouble with her partner of two years, barrister Nick Savage. The feisty policewoman suspects that there is more to the problems than her bad habits. She soon submits to the urge to abuse police privileges in her quest to find out more about Nick’s background.

Meanwhile, Janet Scott is contacted by an old acquaintance who asks her to re-open a case in which she was the principal witness. The disappearance and death of a school friend was the inspiration for Scott’s life in the force, but will the connection cause more trouble than it solves?

Back at the station, Bailey redeems herself with a thorough investigation at work. A young Turkish woman, Emel, is found dead in a suspected suicide case. Her husband’s story soon begins to unravel as a lover in Leeds is uncovered. The lover denies all involvement, but Bailey has a trap lined up for the interview.

“Scott & Bailey” Episode 1 airs on ITV at 9pm on 29th May 2011 for UK viewers only.
