Royal Wedding 2011: Commemorative 20 Cent Coin to Circulate in Australia

A special edition 20 cent coin will enter into Australian circulation following the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. Vladimir Gottwald designed the coin for the Royal Australian Mint.

Assistant Treasurer Bill Shorten said of the release:

“There are many royal collectibles out there but this circulating coin creates the excitement of checking your change to see if there happens to be a collectible right there in your pocket.”

A matching gold-plated 50 cent coin will also be available to purchase from the Royal Australian Mint from 30th April 2011.
