RestauranteWeb Joins Just-Eat Group Providing Gateway to Brazil

The Just-Eat Group will now have access to over 1,000 restaurants in owing to a partnership with RestauranteWeb. The online food ordering business teams up with food outlets to provide a one-stop online checkout for takeaway ordering.

RestauranteWeb was founded in 2004 by Luiz Jares and Marco Corradini. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Just-Eat recently received venture capital investment to the tune of $48 million from IndexVentures, Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures.

Klaus Nyengaard, the CEO of Just-Eat Group, said that the deal was set to capitalise on the booming economy and e-commerce sector of Brazil as well as expand the reach of Just-Eat which now hosts the online checkout for over 20,000 take-out restaurants.

Former Google and MySpace executive Emerson Calegaretti will become Managing Director of Just-Eat Brazil, which will see some management consolidation following the merger with RestauranteWeb. He speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese and has degrees in mathematics, law, marketing and business as well as experience of launching digital services in .
