RBS 6 Nations 2011: Morgan Stoddart May be Fit to Face Scotland

Welsh winger, Morgan Stoddart, may be fit to face Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday, despite the injury he picked up in Friday’s opening match against England.

Stoddart suffered a fracture to his hand, which was confirmed by X-Ray by Welsh medical staff on Saturday.

However, the player could still make this weekend’s match in Scotland:

“Morgan has been given a window of opportunity,”

“If his symptoms settle down we will clear him to play subject to a fitness review later in the week.” – Wales physiotherapist, Mark Davies

Number 8 Andy Powell has been ruled out of the Scotland match, however, as the player sustained damage to his A/C joint in his shoulder in the defeat to England on Friday.

“Andy needs a period of rest now, but if all goes well he should be back in contention for the Italy game at the end of the month,” said Davies.

Powell is expected to be back for the match against Italy at the end of the month. The other injured wing, Leigh Halfpenny, is also hopeful to make that match following the ankle sprain he suffered in pre-tournament training.

Wales will face Scotland in Murrayfield on Saturday 12th February 2011. Kick-off is at 17:00 GMT.
