Flags in Poland were flown at half mast

President Komorowski sent his condolences on Wednesday to the families of five Polish soldiers killed in Afghanistan. The President is visiting his Chinese counterpart in Beijing, but nevertheless ordered that the flag at the Belvedere and Presidential palaces should be flown at half mast.

The President offered his warmest thoughts and prayers, saying that political solutions were desperately needed ahead of the withdrawal of international forces in 2014.

President Komorowski had been meeting the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wen Jiabao, and the chairman of the National People’s Congress, Wu Bangguo, when he was told of the tragedy.
