Poland to Build Two New Nuclear Power Plants

Poland is planning to build two new operational nuclear power plants by 2020. The bidding process begins in late September and a variety of companies are already lining up to provide the technical expertise to build the plants.

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy is jockeying for position. The company has 10,000 employees in Poland and has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fluor Corp., for engineering, procurement and construction on the new reactor project in Poland.

Polska Grupa Energetyczna is holding an engagement conference in Warsaw on 22nd – 23rd September 2011 to open bids for the project which is set to provide 6000 MWe of electricity for Poland. The estimated value of the contract is 120 million Polish Zloty.
