New Year 2010: World Celebrates with Fireworks

The world was united in celebration last night as a new decade began. The party began in the Christmas Islands and swung through a fireworks display on Sydney Harbour Bridge then a lightning storm in Melbourne followed by more fireworks in the MCG stadium.

Edinburgh saw snow on New Year’s Eve but by midnight a clear sky made for an awesome pyrotechnic display which lasted more than two full minutes and could be heard more than two miles away. Today, street performers lined the Royal Mile in celebration of the new year.
