Music: The Beatles go on Sale on iTunes

After years of negotiations, today The Beatles tracks were finally available for digital download from Apple’s iTunes service – the biggest music source on the planet.

This marks the first time the full The Beatles catalogue has been available for digital download, though rights holding record company, EMI, last year released all of the pop group’s tracks on an apple shaped USB product – the Apple to reflect The Beatles’ label Apple Corps.

Apple Corps was involved in a protracted trademark dispute with Apple Inc – the owners of iTunes – which settled in 2007, paving the way for today’s release.

The Beatles – who were once famously declared by their John Lennon to be “bigger than Jesus” – have sold in excess of 30 million albums, in various formats, during the past decade.

At the time of writing, there are 17 The Beatles albums available for sale on most international versions of iTunes.
