Jerry Flannery Ruled out of British & Irish Lions Tour 2009
By Sport Desk; published on May 20, 2009 at 11:11 pm
British and Irish Lions management have confirmed tonight that Jerry Flannery, the Ireland and Muster hooker, is officially ruled out of the 2009 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa, which begins this month, following an elbow ligament injury.
The news comes the same day as his Munster and Ireland team mate, Alan Quinlan, received the results of the appeal into his 12 week ban, received in the Heineken Cup semi-final loss against Leinster – the ban stands: Quinlan is forced to miss Lions Tour 2009.
Leicester and England Flanker Tom Croft replaces Quinlan. It remains to be seen who will be called up to replace Flannery.
