Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso has dissolved Parliament, and called an election for 30th August 2009. His Liberal Democrat Party have been in power for more than 50 years. but the opposition Democratic Party of is widely expected to win. According to a statement he said:

My statements … have led the Japanese people to worry about and grow distrustful of politics… As a result, the approval rating for the Liberal Democratic Party has fallen. I am deeply sorry.
