Istanbul, Tokyo & Madrid have submitted detailed plans to the International Olympic Committee as part of the bidding race to host the 2020 Olympic Games. On-site inspections are the next step in the process for determining the venue for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad.

After receiving the candidature files in Switzerland, IOC President Jacques Rogge said:

“The submission of the Candidature Files represents an important milestone for the Candidate Cities and the cities should be congratulated for their excellent work.”

The IOC Evaluation Commission, chaired by IOC Vice-President Sir Craig Reedie, will now read the files before travelling to Tokyo, then Madrid and finally Istanbul, during March 2013. The commission will announce its decision in September 2013.
