Internet: UK Communities Urged to Bid for Broadband Support

By ; published on March 4, 2011 at 5:07 pm

Communities in Britain are being urged to bid for government support in a new project designed to provide a fibre connection in every community by 2015.

Local Public Authorities will be able to apply to Broadband Delivery (BDUK) for a slice of £50 million to improve broadband in their area.

Around 9 million households and businesses are expected to be left out of commercial roll-outs of super fast broadband, mainly in locations where demand is too low to make projects viable.
