Football: UEFA Champions League Fixtures, Wednesday 24 November 2010

A further eight UEFA Champions League 2010/11 Group fixtures are scheduled for Wednesday, 24th November 2010, as the teams in groups A, B, C and D battle it out in the penultimate match before the teams to enter the knock-out rounds are decided.

Tonight sees Tottenham take on Werder Bremen at home in Group A with a Spurs win vital for group supremacy – much will depend upon the result of the Inter v FC Twente match in the San Siro, however.

Man Utd travel to Glasgow to take on Rangers in Group C, while Valencia welcome Turkish side Bursaspor. A win for United and Valencia will see both sides through, though, if Rangers can get a victory, they’ll keep their hopes alive into the final group game. Rangers must win or they are out.

In the wide-open Group B, Benfica travel to Hapoel Tel Aviv who need to win to keep their faint qualification hopes alive, while table toppers Lyon travel to second-placed Shalke. This group will go to the final match regardless of tonight’s result, but a win would put great pressure on the other teams, for sure.

Barcelona need to win in Group D to make qualification a certainty, and they look to do so tonight as they travel to Panathanaikos. FC Copenhagen travel to Rubin Kazan in the evening’s earlier fixture where the Russian surprise package will be hoping to achieve more than the three draws and one defeat they have picked up to date. If Rubin Kazan can record a victory, they will be just one point short of the qualification place and face Barca in the final round – a team who may already have qualified. If Copenhagen win or draw, they are through. This game is big for both teams.
