Two UEFA Champions League Round of 16 ties come to their conclusion on the evening of Tuesday 8th March 2011, as the second leg in two close ties is due to be played.
Barcelona v Arsenal (agg 1-2) – Kick-Off (CET) 20:45
The first leg of the Barcelona v Arsenal tie was eagerly anticipated from the time the draw was made, and did not disappoint, as Arsenal came from a goal behind to win the opening fixture 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Barcelona could easily have been two away goals up at half time in that match, however, and, on home territory, and with injury concerns over Arsenal’s robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas, Barca have to be favourites for this match at Camp Nou – but will they have enough of an advantage to overcome the 1-2 aggregate scoreline?
Shakhtar Donetsk v Roma (agg 3-2) – Kick-Off (CET) 20:45
Shakhtar Donetsk have been in the UEFA Champions League for a number of years now, and showed their class to win their first ever match on Italian soil in the opening fixture in Rome – grabbing three away goals in the process. Any goal in from them in this home encounter would mean Roma have to score three to qualify tonight, making the first goal very important in this match. It will be interesting to see how the teams approach this finely poised match.
