Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will miss this weekend’s FA Cup 2011 Sixth Round (Quarter Final) tie with Manchester United, after it was revealed by manager Arsene Wenger that the player will be out for up to two weeks.
Speaking of Fabregas’ injury, Wenger said:
“He will be out maybe for the next two games.”
“He is very disappointed because [the hamstring injury] is becoming a bit of a problem for him, but it is very superficial.”
This means that Arsenal, who were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening, and lost in the Final of the 2011 FA Carling Cup to Birmingham City appear in danger of seeing a good season collapse, as they must travel to Man Utd’s Old Trafford for an FA Cup Quarter Final without their captain, Cesc Fabregas.
Other injury woes face the Gunners, too, as Theo Walcott may not recover from his ankle injury in time for this weekend’s fixture, and their 20 year old goalkeeper, Szczesny, who had forced himself into the starting lineup, will also be out for “a while” after injuring his finger in the match against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Manchester United v Arsenal – the FA Cup 2011 Quarter Final – will kick-off at 17:15 GMT on Saturday 12th March 2011 at Old Trafford.
