There was at least one goal from every side of the 16 teams in action in today’s Barclays Premier League fixtures.
Man Utd were the most prolific as they scored seven to beat Blackburn 7-1 – with Dimitar Berbatov helping himself to an incredible five goals in the process.
Also at the top of the table, Arsenal had the most of a six goal thriller at Villa Park as they won 4-2 to remain third in the league.
Arsenal’s position was bolstered by draws at Bolton, who came back from two behind to draw 2-2, and Stoke City, who held Man City to a 1-1 result.
The bottom two sides closed in on the rest of the table, too, as both West Ham and Wolves picked up a vital three points.
West Ham heaped more pressure on Wigan with a 3-1 win over their relegation rivals away from home. Wigan now sit in the bottom three, just two points ahead of the Hammers.
Wolves also crept closer to safety with an impressive 3-2 win over high-flying Sunderland, producing at last the result that their recent performances seemed to have warranted. Mick McCarthy will be pleased to get a result over his old employers, while easing the pressure on his current managerial position in the process.
West Brom turned round their recent run of bad results in emphatic style with an impressive 4-1 victory away at Everton’s Goodison Park.
Fulham and Birmingham shared a 1-1 point that keeps the London side just the same amount above the drop zone in the nervy 17th position. Birmingham are two points ahead in 14th as another set of results see the league bunch up even further.
Man Utd sit atop the table, at least for 24 hours, as Chelsea are set to face Newcastle United tomorrow, while Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur.
