Football: Barclays Premier League January 2011 Deadline Day Transfers

There were several notable deadline day transfers in the BarclaysPremier League on Monday 31st January 2011.

We have listed the notable ins and outs from the final day of the January transfer window, including several SPL transfers, too.

All transfers with a confirmed fee in excess of £1million are in bold.

The bulk of the transfers were loans, with some noteworthy names moving: Stephen Ireland to Newcastle from Aston Villa; and Eider Gudjohnsen to Fulham from Stoke are both deals that catch the eye.

Where the money is moving is generally those deals involving Liverpool and Chelsea. Chelsea went out and spent over £70million on two players, Fernando Torres (£50m) from Liverpool and defender David Luiz (£21.3m) from Benfica.

Liverpool spent their Torres money on Andy Carrol (£35m) from Newcastle and Luis Suarez (£22.7m) from Ajax Amsterdam.

The only other deadline day Premier League transfer worth in excess of £1million was that of Tuncay from Stoke City to Wolfsburg for £4.5million.
