The Fifth Round of the 2011/12 FA Cup with Budweiser, took place over the weekend of 18018 February 2012, with six teams confirming their passage to the Quarter Final stage, while two matches ended in stalemate.
The shock of the round happened in Norwich, where Leicester city of the Championship defeated their Premier League rivals 2-1 at Carrow Road.
Stevenage of League One were resolute against high-flying Tottenham Hotspur, too, and earned themselves a lucrative replay at White Hart Lane after a clean sheet 0-0 draw.
Chelsea had to come from a goal behind at Stamford Bridge to avoid defeat to Championship outfit, Birmingham City, as the two blues played out a 1-1 draw.
Liverpool were helped by an incredible three Own Goals against an otherwise reasonable Brighton and Hove Albion – the Reds eventually ran out 6-1 winners at Anfield. Across Liverpool, Everton picked up a 2-0 home win over Blackpool thanks to a brace of early strikes.
Bolton Wanderers were able to forget their relegation worries for a weekend – they gathered a good 2-0 win away at Millwall.
Stoke City avoided an upset away at Crawley Town despite going down to ten men in the first half when Rory Delap was sent off. A Peter Crouch header gave Stoke a two goal cushion as they eventually won 2-0 in an otherwise uninspired performance.
The big match on Saturday saw more woe for Arsene Wenger as Arsenal were knocked out of what looked like their last chance of silverware by a stout Sunderland, as the Wearsiders gathered a strong 2-0 home win at the Stadium of Light.
