Entertainment: Dawn French and Lenny Henry Divorce

The marriage of British comedians Dawn French and Lenny Henry ended today as the pair – who had been married for more than 25 years – completed a divorce at the High Court in London.

Neither Henry nor French was present at the proceeding that formally ended their marriage, which had begun in 1984.

The couple separated in April 2010, before completing the divorce today under new legislation which allows for uncomplicated cases to be expedited.

Henry is best known as a comedian who made his name as a stand-up. He has recently enjoyed stage success playing Shakespeare’s Othello. French is best known for her television collaboration with Jennifer Saunders and her hugely popular BBC sit-com The Vicar of Dibley which characterised middle-English village community life.

The couple have one adopted daughter, Billie.
