Eniro has abandoned its acquisition of 118 800 after the Swedish Competition Authority indicated that it wanted to conduct and in-depth investigation into the deal.

The Nordic engine feared a “protracted process” and withdrew from the deal to buy the directory assistance service.

With 3,600 employees in Sweden and Poland as well as revenues of SEK 4,323 M in 2011, the listed tech company has considerable clout in the Northern European online sector.
