Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011: “Motortown”

Following the success of their 2010 five-star, sell-out production of Bluebird, Exeter University Theatre Company return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 with another of play written by Simon Stephens, Motortown:

Motortown follows the journey of Danny, an ex-soldier, as he returns to a foreign land. Home is not as he remembers, everyone, everything and every place is unfamiliar as he re-visits those closest to him.

Whilst staying with his brother Lee, he visits an old flame, who has since moved on and no longer sees herself in connection with Danny.

The breakdown of this relationship, alongside his recent experiences at war, leads a disillusioned and misguided Danny into a world of danger, instability and isolation, all uncharacteristic of the young man that left for Basra.”

Written by Simon Stephens, Motortown debuted at the Royal Court in 2006. The play takes audiences inside the mind of a troubled ex-soldier and unravels the journey that so many take from solider back to civilian.
