David Beckham has signed up to be the global brand ambassador for Samsung at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The football player will take part in multi-platform adverts and public relations campaigns as part of the contract.

Beckham said of the partnership:

“I’m very proud to be part of the team that brought the Olympics to my home city, London. It is one of the greatest events in the world. Working with a globally respected brand, like Samsung, our aim will be to help more and more people to enjoy and share the excitement of the London 2012 Olympic Games.”

Born in Leytonstone – near to the current London 2012 Olympic Park in the East End of London – David Beckham was part of the team that secured London’s bid for the 2012 Olympics. He is a key part of Samsung’s marketing strategy for London 2012 aimed at engaging youth and supporting sport.
