Bridging East and West – Tiger Woods Hits Drives Over the Bosphorus

Tiger Woods has become the first person to play golf on the Bosphorus Bridge – sending drives sailing over the 3,524 feet suspension bridge from East to West.

The event was organised as part of the Turkish Airlines Open presented by Turkey’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The Turkish Airlines Open is part of the European Tour’s inaugural Final Series and is the penultimate event on the 2013 Race to Dubai. It features 78 players and starts at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Belek, Antalya, on Thursday.

Tiger commented:

“To be the first golfer to do this was very cool. I have really enjoyed my visit to Istanbul. To see the Bosphorus for the first time was a very enjoyable and memorable experience.”

The Bosphorus Bridge unites the European locale of Ortaköy with the Asian coastal town of Beylerbeyi. It is one of Istabul’s most famous landmarks and carries around 180,000 vehicles every day.
