Usain Bolt has claimed the World Championship in the 100m sprint, beating Justin Gatlin and Nesta Carter.

At the 14th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow, Bolt was the star of the show – miming the opening of an umbrella as the line-up was announced ahead of the starting gun.

After a typically slow start for the tall Jamaican, he edged ahead of his nearest rival – the United State’s Justin Gatlin.

France’s Christophe Lemaitre pulled up just after the finish line with a hamstring injury and was stretchered off the track. It is now unlikely that Lemaitre, 2010 European champion for the 100m and 200m, will compete in the upcoming 200m and 4x100m relay.

The women’s 100m final at the World Championships takes place on 12th August 2013 at 21:50 BST.
