Gremlins had clearly got into the BBC website on the opening day of Barclays Premier League 2011/12, on Saturday 13th August 2011, as fans looking to watch the opening day edition of Football Focus online were greeted instead by the harrowing 1975 movie One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest starring (pictured top right).

According to a BBC spokesman, who did not wish to be named, the accidental showing of the movie, which carries a certificate 18 in the UK, owing to it’s adult content, came to be displayed on the BBC website in place of Football Focus during Saturday lunch time as a result of human error.

A number of Twitter users expressed surprise at finding the movie in place of the intended soccer show, though there were few complaints -  user @twisted_k summed up his tweet on the accident with “Great film though”.
