Alex Monroe, the coveted jewellery designer, is auctioning 18 carat gold bicycle pendants for the charity Fight for Sight. The pieces are handmade by Alex Monroe himself and have moving wheels.
The designer will also be taking part in a bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the charity, which funds research into the causes of blindness. Alex suffered from uveitis himself and so will be biking the 1000 mile route alongside Scientist John Greenwood and Actor Lloyd Hutchinson.
Alex Monroe is famous for designing the must-have bee pendant worn by Sienna Miller. He won the 2008 UK Jewellery Awards “Designer of the Year” and has designed pieces for the V&A Museum and Liberty. The auction for the one-off pieces took place between 1st May & 19th July 2010.
