Albert Matebor Wins GöteborgsVarvet 21km in 1 Hour 52 Seconds

Kenyan athlete, Albert Kiplagat Matebor, has triumphed in the GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon in 01:00:52 followed by Kiplimo Kimutai and Paul Kimugui Kimaiyo. Matebor’s performance follows a win in February at the Verona Marathon in a time of 02:09:16.

In the women’s race, Joyce Chepkirui took the top spot with a time of 01:09:04 after leading from start to finish. She is on a winning streak following victories in the Verbania Half Marathon in March and the Praha 10k in April. In second place, Atseda Bayisa finished a minute behind Chepkirui, followed in third place by Pamela C Lisoreng.

The event, in Gothenburg, Sweden, took place on 21st May 2011 in sunshine and good weather. Crowds and bands lined the street for the event in which approximately 60,000 runners took part.
